IP MAN (The Movie)
No wonder Ip Chun (Ip Man's son, consultant to this movie)
was so pleased-- from the twinkle in his eyes to the lifting of
his feet, Donnie Yen inhabits this movie like he is possessed
by Ip Man. And as Ip Man himself explains early in the
movie: "the key is the person.
And what a movie they have built up around their central
show-piece! Taking on the common martial arts/Kung Fu
Movie theme of "what can one martial artist do against a
turbulent world/time?" (one of the movie's promotional tag-lines), the story "hook" is not whether Ip Man will win-- but rather when he will be forced to fight and what would happen when he does. * http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1220719/

PRODIGAL SON
The film was directed by Hong Kong kung fu master Sammo Hung and utilises stunning sets and scenery, brilliant, unrelenting fight scenes and fantastic acting from the cast. For fans of Wing Chun kung fu, this is a must: the only film in history that has managed to utilise this form of kung fu and make it look good on screen (by combining it with Shaolin stances). The story itself revolves around the real Wing Chun masters Leung Yee Tai, the Chinese Opera performer and his pupil, Leung Jaan. In a nutshell, Leung Jaan is a spoilt "Prodigal Son" whose father pays opponents to lose fights to him. When he realises this, he sets out to become a truly great fighter under the tutelage of Leung Yee Tai. Unfortunately, the opera star is not so willing to be his Sifu.*

THE DESCENDANT OF WING CHUN
It starts out with two fighters engaging in a "friendly" contest of martial skill and doesn't let up until the end credits. Great fights, authentic Wing Chun training techniques, and an interesting storyline make this a keeper. Note: for those of you that like Chinese dialogue and subtitles, this DVD has none, but the dub is very well done. The voice actor for Fatty Kwei is hilarious, english accent and all. Don't delay on this one, folks, it can't last at this almost absurd price. A definite gem.*

IP MAN: PORTRAIT OF A KUNG FU MASTER
Written by Ip Ching, Ip Man's son and Ip Ching's disciple Master Ron Heimberger, this book cuts through all of the hype & illusion surrounding this incredibly talented man, the forefather of modern wing chun. The book is laid out into 15 different sections, each explaining a little about the Grandmaster's life and a virtue to be upheld. An inspiring book I highly recommend not just to wing chun practioners, but to all martial artists. Expertly written & some great first hand accounts of Ip Man's fighting prowess allied to some exclusive photo's .*

Bruce Lee Practicing Wing Chun
Lee began the process of creating his own martial arts system after his arrival in the United States in 1959. Lee called his martial arts Jun Fan Gung Fu (literally Bruce's Gung Fu), which consisted mostly of Wing Chun, with elements of Western Boxing and fencing. Lee taught friends he met in Seattle, starting with Judo practitioner Jesse Glover as his first student and who later became his first assistant instructor.*
